READING RESPONSE JOURNAL

There are different ways readers can respond to literature in order to gain insights into text, reveal their thinking, and interact with literature in meaningful ways.

Each week students will be given a question by me that may require them to state their feelings, thoughts, reactions, and/or questions about situations, ideas, actions, characters, settings, symbols, plots, themes, and /or any other elements in the story they are reading independently.  There are no wrong responses, so students should be honest and take risks.

I would like the students to write the question in their READING RESPONSE JOURNAL and answer it in a three paragraph essay format.  The question will also be posted on the website.  Please note this writing  assignment will be graded each week and  will be DUE ON FRIDAY.

*Students should either provide a written or illustrated response each week to one of the following questions listed in the document below.

*The response should be recorded on the WEEKLY READING RESPONSE FORM located in the students reading journal.  The form can be printed from this webpage, should the student forget their journal in school.  It can be found in PDF format below.
